The romance and allure of Tuscany has beckoned many of us to explore the hillside villages, taste the fine wine and food, and explore a culture that has been refined over the centuries. We succumbed to its charm and combed the countryside in search of doors, knockers, and windows—all created with equal artistic passion. These 11"x17" prints are a collection of some of the finest works of art and inspiration. The warm wood and rich colors represent the heart of this lovely area of Italy, its people.
A bit of history: Tuscany is named after its pre-Roman inhabitants, the Etruscans. It was ruled by Rome for many centuries. In the Middle Ages, it saw many invasions, but in the Renaissance period it helped lead Europe back to civilisation. Later, it settled down as a grand duchy. It was conquered by Napoleonic France in the late 18th century and became part of the Italian Republic in the 19th century. (Wikipedia)
